Sermon of the Month

On the first day of each month, Pastor Cam used to post a “Sermon of the Month,” a specially selected audio recording of one of the sermons from the sermon archives. Each of these sermons then remains in the sermon of the month archive (#41 in the sermon series filter).

Why are you cast down, Oh my soul? – Psalm 42

We are two thirds into the year of our Lord 2026. As we have stated several times during the past year’s Sermon of the Month introductions, this has been a very tumultuous year in the history of the world. We have all been exposed to the “roller coaster” of the media cycles and life’s challenges; sometimes we are up and the next moment it’s a race to the bottom.

In this very appropriate sermon as we wonder how long we can tolerate these ups and downs, Pastor Cam uses the image of a roller coaster of our emotions, and how we typically respond to the different challenges life throws at us. It is the first in a series on the Psalms, preached during the summer months of 2013. In this series, the range of emotions we as humans experience to different circumstances are explored through a selection of Psalms: including despair, loss, happiness, praise, fear etc.
