As the introduction to this month’s sermon makes reference, I am again battling cancer. Beginning in September last year when tumors in my liver were identified I have endured numerous hospitalizations, a major surgery, radiation, chemo, and scans without number. In consultation with my doctors I have decided that more treatment only offers more misery rather than a cure. So I am discontinuing all further treatments and I have entered an excellent hospice service that will give me the support I need to stay at home and keep me as comfortable as possible for as long as God chooses to give me.
I have not given up on life. I have given up on chemo, radiation, and the limits of medical science. I am choosing quality of life over length.
Many friends and family from around the world have shared in this journey with us and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has become impossible to keep up with regular updates to everyone so this bridge is being created for those who want to continue to follow my journey and to pray. I, or others on my behalf will post a weekly update or more often if there are more dramatic changes. Currently I am at home and intending to stay here; not in pain, but very weak.
As I told the church in Abu Dhabi when I began my first cancer journey, “When you can’t see God’s hand, look for His fingerprints.” God’s fingerprints have been everywhere and all around us. I sense His love in every breath.

Cam and Esther Ruth: When I try to write words, only emotions come to the surface, so I will just say that we are here for you and we are praying with you.

Kathy C. has kept us somewhat up to date for several months now and I want you to know that I have been faithfully praying for you and Esther Ruth daily.
It’s good to hear you’re in good spirits and have not given up on life. My prayer has been that in spite of this illness and the difficulties that may come, that this will be a special time for you with your family and especially with Esther Ruth.
I think I’ve been around long enough and attended enough Bible studies to recognize a quality leader, and you have a real gift when it comes to Biblical teaching with a smile and an attitude of quiet humility. Thanks for all the hours you’ve spent studying and preparing to be a faithful servant.
Keep us posted the best you can with ant specifics that we can be praying for…

Dear Cam, I have not seen you for years but have never forgotten you and Esther Ruth, or the boys, Dennis and Drew when you added them to your hearts. KATHY Has told me bits and pieces of your lives in Bend .
Now I hear this news. I’m am so sorry for the pain and questions that you have gone through these past years. I am thinking of Esther Ruth. So much has happened in her life in the past 6 months. Only Jesus can walk beside you and his Holy Spirit guide you into all Truth. Soon, unless He chooses to leave you here, you will be in His glorious Presence. The overwhelming love and beauty of God will emcompass every cell of your being. You have been made perfect. No more sin, no more possibility of evil in any form will surround you or be able to touch you. You are Free. All praise and Glory be to Him forever. My dear Kent is his true being forever. Praising and glorifying God. He is with all the saints, Peter, Moses, Abraham, Adam, Luther, Augustine, Schaffer, and His kingdom goes on and on. My prayers are for Esther Ruth and your boys and families now, and more in the days without you. Their loss and grief will be overwhelming. Pray for them Cam, pray with them, and over them. BLESS them. They will be angry, lonely, lost and bereft of a husband, father, friend, and lover. Let them know of His and your care and love, that it’s eternal, and you will be witnessing their lives and cheering them on. Your life goes on forever, how can you keep from singing. Remembering the last time & your preaching from 1Cor. 1:21 & how the Lord graciously led you thru that reminding you of His past teaching & mercies which you captured in the booklet ‘When comes the Storm’. He did miraculously that time & will do so this as you shared with us in that message from Corinthians.

His ministry lead a sinful soul like me to the Cross where I could meet my saviour. As he preached inAD For me to live is Christ and to Die is gain. He is being with his Father soon.

My prayers are with you. As you linger in the peace of God, in these uncertain days. Know that you’re loved more than words can say and moments with you certainly cherished more than gold. Heaven prepares to welcome a saint in you, we on earth mourn for your departure, but we will see each other again… I am excited for you to hear from our Heavenly Father, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
My daddy will be there to welcome you – hug him for me. I cherish our adventure and rusk making moments, cooking and cleaning after meals, road trip to see the Sisters, Camp Sherman, snow at midnight, sitting at the fire watching the news, discussing the Word of the Lord and listening to you preach… a psalm a day. Memories more than I can recall here…

You are love by Christ church here in Abudhabi and your prayer of comfort occupies a big space in our prayer. Thank you for displaying Christ-like pastoring in ECCAD. Dear Cam and Esther Ruth, We keep praying that we would not struggle so much to find the right words to express our heart-felt feelings for you. We are so sad, but on the other hand we know full well that Our God is who He says He is. We know that He is holding you both in the palm of His hand. We know His love for you supersedes any degree of love we have humanely felt. We can only express how thankful we are that Our Lord blessed us over 30 years ago when He put you both in our lives. Cam, you showed us what it meant to really study the Holy scriptures. Ken and I can honestly say that not once did we leave a service of yours without being impacted by your message. We always learned something new. Because the Lord used you and Esther Ruth in such a mighty way our faith continuously grows deeper and deeper in our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ and we have come to rely on the moving the Holy Spirit in our lives, Honestly we can say we have yet to come close to finding a pastor as gifted as you in teaching and preaching God’s word. You impacted so many lives in Abu Dhabi, particularly those close to us. James and Amanda came to Christ at a young age, and are both following Him and love God. They both. married believers and they are teaching and leading their children in the knowledge of Christ, and what it means to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit has blessed you with a powerful practical and clear message. Your Christian example and leadership has always been inspirational and led our family in new beginnings from that time onwards. Having learned of your present earthly journey from Gary and Jeanie Wilford , who now reside in my area in MN, they have informed me of Cam’s health status. My heart grieves…but yet we hope in Him who we believe in with all His promises for us.
Esther and cam, I well recall all the wonderful memories of having met you at Lazy Mt in the mid 70’s…your Sunday messages there were sooo enriching to my spiritual life along with a friendship with Esther.
Thank you Jesus for allowing me to me you both many years ago!
