Sermon Archives

If you browse the listings chronologically, you may notice some significant gaps in the dates. No, I didn’t take a long vacation! During my 25 years in Abu Dhabi, I preached through some books of the Bible twice: Philippians, John’s Gospel, Romans and Ephesians, for example. These sermon series were separated by the passing of significant time, as well as significant turnover in the congregation, making the return to such important texts appropriate. But in assembling this collection of sermons, I made the decision to only include the most recent set of sermons from each book. This will explain some of the gaps in dates, particularly in the early years.

Finally, a couple observations. Some of these recordings are over 30 years old. They survived the transition from cassette tape to digital media. Please forgive them if they include the occasional squeak or squawk You won’t usually miss more than a word or two. On a more amusing note, as you listen to some of the earliest recordings you might hear the sound of Arabic music or voices in the background. No, you are not imagining things! Our PA system was tuned too closely to a local radio station and in certain conditions we would pick up their broadcast. Of course the recorder faithfully picked it up as well. It’s usually faint and my voice is still easy to understand. Rather than be annoyed by it, allow it to remind you of the setting in which these sermons were delivered!

So, have fun searching the archives. And maybe, while you are searching (maybe unsuccessfully?) for a sermon on a particular text, your eye may fall on a sermon title or text that is just the one God wanted you to listen to! May you be blessed and refreshed as you listen.
